36 :: ? dream job. I could not be in a more fortunate position to dream and actualise a few of Joseph’s dreams too. This makes my job awesome, as I have incredible support and obviously, financial support (a constant struggle for the arts). In my initial chats with Joseph, he explained his basic ideas for arts at Redhill, but we knew that we were going to be shaping this job (and its heavy title) as we went along. The one thing that Joseph was set on, was this idea of a mini-festival on Redhill’s beautiful campus. With Joseph as my executive producer and sponsor, I knew that we would make it happen. In 2016, we birthed a very simple and, by all accounts, successful festival. I care deeply about the value that the arts play in the development of everyone. It offers us the opportunities to escape, explore, debate, converse, appreciate, admire, revere, engage and just be. More than this, we have an industry that relies on a reciprocal relationship with audiences. I would like to expose students, schools and Jozi to the joy of the Arts. I am growing bums (for seats), minds and shaping hearts.  Artists need a space to play, experiment, and incubate works. My hope is that RedFest may become a space for artists to bring their works, test them on audiences, gain feedback and revisit (if necessary). RedFest allows Redhill to establish crucial bonds with working performers, producers and creative teams. Redhill is invested in the arts and could not think of a better way to support the industry at large. Whatcan audiences lookforward to atthe nextRedFest? Audiences can expect a weekend of theatre, workshops, live music, exhibitions, great food and crafty beverages. RedFest is three years’ old, and is swelling with opportunity and potential. Proposals are out and we will have clarity on programming soon. Set aside 28, 29 and 30 September 2018. We are inviting collaborations and sponsors to get on board.
